Shopify Agentic Storefront

What is Shopify Agentic Storefront?

Shopify Agentic Storefronts let the customer discover and purchase your products directly inside the AI conversions without leaving the AI platforms like:

ChatGPT
Google AI Mode
Gemini
Microsoft Copilot

When an agentic storefront is active, customers can purchase products directly in the AI channel instead of being redirected to your website.

How It Works:

Your products are discoverable through the Shopify Catalog, which automatically syndicates your product data across AI channels with product details like title, description, images, price, and availability in a format AI agents can understand.

The data is formatted so AI agents can accurately interpret and recommend the products:
Like, when a customer asks an AI like this:
“Good Running Shoes Under $200” – Your eligible products may appear in the results.

If agentic storefronts are active in your store, customers can complete their purchase right there in the AI interface. If not active, they’ll be redirected to your online store to checkout.

For orders made on agentic storefronts, you maintain full ownership of the customer relationship and post-purchase experience just like for orders made on your online store. Orders made on agentic storefronts will appear in your Shopify admin with channel attribution so you can see where the order originated.

Note: The feature is active by default when eligible, but you can manage which AI channels to sell on through Settings > Sales channels > Agentic storefront

Why This Matters?

Agentic storefronts represent a shift from:
Website-first commerce → AI-first commerce
Instead of customers coming to your store, your store goes to where customers are having conversations.
It reduces friction, shortens the buying journey, and allows AI assistants to act as intelligent shopping intermediaries.
