Shopify Catalog

Shopify Catalog is a global catalog of eligible products offered by merchants on Shopify. It is the engine behind product discovery in the Shop app, AI platforms (such as ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft’s Copilot), shopping websites, and AI agents, showing your product details such as price, variants, and availability in real-time.

How it works:

The catalog automatically feeds your product information to the channels, listing products with their title, description, options, images, price, availability, and key attributes in a way that AI agents can parse and understand.

It constantly updates this information, ensuring that your inventory and prices are accurate on all AI channels. It’s like having your own AI interpreter, translating your product information into the language of intelligent agents.

Automatic inclusion:

If your store and products meet the requirements, your products are automatically included in the Shopify Catalog without any action needed on your part. Your products must have a title, at least one image, a price over $0, ship to the US or Canada, be published to your online store (or Hydrogen/Headless channels), and comply with Shopify’s Terms of Service.

Shopify Catalog Mapping:

This feature lets you fine-tune how Shopify understands your product data for a more accurate representation on agentic storefronts. It’s especially helpful if you use custom data and grouping logic like metafields, metaobjects, tag prefixes, or special separators/delimiters in product titles.

Discovery vs. selling:

Your Catalog settings don’t impact product discovery—products are discoverable through the Catalog, web crawling, and product feeds. However, to enable direct purchasing in AI channels (agentic storefronts), you need to activate those integrations separately.
